Another milestone for the Karix Data Management team
At Karix, we believe in staying at the helm of cutting edge technology. So, it was only a matter of time before we built our scalable SMS platform on the Hadoop ecosystem (HBase, Phoenix, Hive, Kafka, Solr and Sqoop). Hadoop is the open source software framework used to store massive amounts of data (Big Data). It provides enormous processing power to manage and run limitless applications. Today almost every major digital enterprise has a Hadoop ecosystem to manage and store their data and drive applications such as search and profile sorting.
Adopting Hadoop for Big Data means a long list of benefits for Karix and its customers. For starters, adopting Hadoop has supercharged the processing capability of our platform three times with the existing infrastructure. Our Hadoop architecture is also scalable, highly available, distributed and more secure. Let’s look at a few of the benefits in detail below:

Hadoop cluster is horizontally scalable when compared to our previous setup. Based on the anticipated volume, we can add on nodes without any downtime or delays. With our current infrastructure setup, it can handle up to 500 Million transactions per day without any bottleneck.

Application/UI/Reports now interacts with open-source search servers which stores indexed data. The search based on unique identifier, mobile number etc., will share results at an even quicker pace than our previous setup.

With Hadoop, we have a new cluster of machines (Servers) setup that will increase the threshold for log downloads. Several customers can now download their logs parallelly without any issues. The new server setup also has the provision to keep items in a queue, therefore it ensures customer download requests will be delivered.

In today’s world, where very few enterprises have barely grasped the tethers of a Big Data platform, especially Hadoop and its eco-system components, Karix’s Data Management team has successfully carried out the difficult migration from RDBMS to a Hadoop ecosystem. Currently, Karix has an ecosystem with 2 clusters that will store SMS transaction log and Solr for real time reporting. It speaks volumes of Karix’s capabilities and our zeal to stay ahead of the curve.
